Tobago Main Ridge: A Watershed for Groundwater Recharge

Since 1776, the Main Ridge Forest Reserve has been a Crown Reserve making it the oldest legally protected forest reserve in the Western Hemisphere. Aquifer systems in Tobago expand across the Main Ridge and are often referred to as a megawatershed. The transference of rainfall through these aquifer systems is of vital importance to the domestic water supply of Tobago.
